I started photograpy at fifteen years old in an L.A. suburb known as Temple City. A skateboarding accident left me in a full leg cast, but still wanting to be a part of the daily activities. So I grabbed my older brother's camera and started photographing my friends skateboarding. I was fascinated by the images I saw once the film was developed. My leg healed, but my fascination with capturing moments in time never went away. This eventually led to me working at a local portrait studio and going onto college to study photography. I first studied at The Art Center in Pasadena then moved to San Francisco. After four years of intense study, I received a BFA in photography from the Academy of Art. My first big photo job after college was photographing ketchup bottles and cola cans for a grocery store's mailer coupons. Not the most exciting subject matter, but I was working with cutting edge digital photography (pre-dating the digital capture technology we take for granted today) everyday of the week. The experience alone was an invaluable learning lesson, preparing me for the future of photography as well as learning what clients (who are also real people) want and need from a photograph. After a couple years shooting bottles and cans, I rediscovered what is was that truly fascinated me about photography; capturing people in time and documenting the emotional connections that these scenes invoke. Revitalized and refocused on these emotional moments caught in time, I continue to look for the moments of our lives that defines our personal pasts and inspire our futures.

My photography journey began two years ago when I was searching for the perfect photographer to capture a very important day…. my wedding. I was in awe at the beauty and tenderness that could be frozen in time with a single shutter release. After months of research, I actively studied with and followed several photographers. With time I realized that I had a passion for this art and wanted to be behind the camera!
This passion has driven me to learn the technical aspects of all that goes into producing the beautiful pictures I have admired over the years. My focus is capturing moments and emotion as well as portraying the personality of my subject and their families. I have grown by leaps and bounds and continue to hone my skills through workshops, forums, mentors and shooting sessions for family and friends.
My own experience, as well as the experiences I've had capturing weddings over the past couple of years allow me to genuinely appreciate the needs, interests and desires of each wedding couple I work with. My professional demeanor along with a compassionate and positive personality will be an asset to you and your event. |

Photography is my passion. The pursuit of wow. This is the way I try to live my life; all day; every day; Everywhere I turn and see I truly am astonished. I work every day, not just when I am photographing a wedding; everyday I use my camera in the same manner a painter uses a brush every day, a sculptor a chisel, a pianist a piano. I am always creating images. I see myself as an artist. Whether I am photographing a wedding, a cat or dog, a nude, nature, a baby, a pregnant woman, a party or a portrait……I consider all my photography art; and all my photography is personal work. Life is my subject matter.
Although baseball was my childhood passion, I always considered myself an artist. After getting a degree in Art History and in English, I worked as a corporate photographer and writer at Hearst Magazines (Good Housekeeping, Cosmopolitan, Esquire, House Beautiful, Town & Country). I then sold printing while taking photographs and exhibiting the photos in small galleries in New York City, New Jersey and Massachusetts.
Recently I opened an art gallery in Western Massachusetts, named Studio 19 which is dedicated to showcasing the talents of young photographers from the around the world whose work demonstrates original ways of seeing. It is called Studio 19 as it is inspired by the ground-breaking gallery opened in 1908 by Alfred Stieglitz at 291 Fifth Avenue, NYC.
Most recently I have been photographing weddings and I was the official photographer for the National Miss Junior Teen America Pageant. I also continue to photograph portraits and nature. My book, Famous People Famous Places, photographs of Times Square in the early 1980s, will be published in 2007. |

|
A photographers main assets are his eyes and his heart, the camera is only necessary to record what the eyes are drawn to and what the heart responds to. Chris approaches each of his assignment whether they be weddings, sports, aerial or portraits by searching for a look that will create a response never before experienced and ultimately click the camera at that defining moment. This is often in harmony with the wishes of customers that lead to great images that satisfy their needs.
Chris has been a photographer for many years and was an early adopter of digital technology. He has shot US Olympic level figure skating, US National Athletics, a wide variety of aerial images and of course many weddings, portraits and personal projects.
Most recently Chris has some images on display at the Panopticon Gallery in Boston at a show entitled 'The Elements' and spends part of his time tutoring other photographers in the complexities of digital photography. |

In the Artists' Own Words:
"My work is directly influenced by my own personal values, and the things I feel are most important-my family, my community, art and having an honest relationship with each of them. I also take my work very seriously because I believe I am fortunate to be an artist and have a passion.
At the same time, I truly enjoy capturing spontaneous images, memorializing special moments in people's lives and applying a unique perspective to traditional events. I love taking photographs and I want you to love the photographs you hire me to take." |

 Keith |
Photographer Keith Jacobs has been capturing life's important moments since 1980.
Creative lighting, natural posing, and his unique style of blending traditional photography with photojournalistic imagery are just a few reasons why Keith has become one of New England's premier event photographers.
Born in Levittown PA, Keith came to Boston in the early 60's. His career first began in the fast paced fashion industry here in Boston, and New York. Along the way West Coast event photographers that had a similar fashion flare to their images influenced him.
Discovering the need for other creative outlets Keith focused his attention on the Boston event photography market and has never looked back.
The combination of both fashion and traditional photographic skills Keith has fused both styles together in his work. Though outstanding craftsmanship and an artistic eye, his images leave a lasting impression to all that view his work. |

I knew that I liked photography as a teenager. Like so many photographers, my first experience was with my dad's old manual Olympus. I took all the classes they offered at my school. At first I was enamored of the mechanics of cameras and developing – I loved making pinhole cameras and watching my photographs slowly materialize as I swished them in the chemicals.
Everything grew from there. I became fascinated with lighting and capturing movement. For me, it was logical to be a photographer professionally because it is my most practical interest! It's creative and challenging and my job is a little bit different everyday. I'm always on the move.
I was lucky enough to apprentice with one of the best wedding photographers in Utah Valley right out of high school and eventually I got through college shooting weddings. So while I got a bachelor's degree in English, I got an equally fine education in photography. My work has a contemporary edge to it – I like to mix fashion photography with photojournalism. I think the most interesting subject in the world is the human face. This makes shooting any type of event, be it wedding, party, or pageant, a challenge for me. Weddings are such colorful events – happy, tender, nervous, chaotic – it is amazing to see all of these things reflected in the faces of my subjects. Capturing that is what I enjoy most.
I also find it very rewarding to know that a great many people will cherish the pictures I've taken for them for a long time. I am always surprised and pleased to find that all of my photographic interests converge in wedding photography. With wedding photography there is a lot of room for my artistic and photojournalistic skills, and there is always meaning in these photographs. For some photographers, their work is tossed aside after one run through the newspaper or one gallery show, but wedding pictures will be looked at again and again. I am documenting some of the fondest and most important details of real life – that is very motivating to me.
When I'm not taking pictures, I might be planning my next international adventure with friends, sitting in a local coffee shop with a good book, or playing my trumpet in my bathroom – good acoustics! |
